Production Processes

North Star's production processes are designed to meet the rigid requirements of materials inspection and handling, fabrication, assembly, and testing in accordance with the ISO-9000 Quality System standard and the MIL-I-45208 Inspection system.

Configuration and version-control of documentation, drawings, and software are handled by our staff in electronic form.  Inventory is segregated and maintained in a computer database utilizing Parts and Vendors software.  Each production item is manage by the use of route sheets, controlled drawings, and test procedures.  Changes are documented and tracked using Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), which involves a system of submittal, approval, and implementation.

Qualifying our Vendors

We select and qualify our vendors according to our own in-house standards of quality for items such as printed wiring boards, sensors, motors, resolvers, video displays, machined parts, and electronic components (ICs, switches, relays, etc.).  We manufacture military and commercial cable assemblies for all our products, in-house.  And, we provide all other manufacturing and test labor necessary to completely assemble, test, and support all the products we sell.

Product Test and Acceptance

Our test plans and procedures are well documented and thorough.  Each item has a final acceptance test that is performed on the item before it is shipped to our customer.  Test results and Certificates of Conformance (C of Cs) are available upon request.  North Star owns the necessary equipment and software to inspect and test the products we sell.
